The MAIN is a user-friendly and versatile venue that can be rented for corporate events, parties, meetings, film shoots, auditions, readings, plays, movies and much more. It is conveniently located in the Old Town Newhall Arts and Entertainment District—home to live theater, art galleries, fine dining, wineries, breweries and boutiques—which is easily accessible from the Los Angeles area via the I-5 and 14 Freeway, as well as Metrolink, which has a station one block from the theater.
Theatre Specs & General Info
The MAIN is provided in “as is” condition knowing that at time of rental the stage may be inhabited by a fully dressed set. Use of technical or design elements may require additional staff and incur additional costs at the rate of $33/hr.
A rental manager, must be present at all events, and is included in the cost of the rental fee. Additional staffing may be required depending on the nature of the event. The amount of staffing for each rental will be determined at the sole discretion of The MAIN and will be outlined in the rental agreement. Staff is hired at a minimum of 2 hours at a rate of $33/hr
Rentals include access to:
- ETC Nomad Puck Light Board
- 32-channel digital Berenger sound board
- JBL house speakers
- Retractable screen and short throw floor projector
- Large dressing room with a private restroom
All rentals are subject to a $250 security deposit to secure the venue. Deposit is not applied toward rental fees and is refundable less any damages.
Rentals must be a minimum of two hours. Hourly and Day rates are offered. A “day” is considered to be 8 consecutive hours during a 24hr period (commencing at midnight and ending at 11:59 pm). Additional time over the 8 hours will be charged the hourly rate. To receive the nonprofit rate for rentals, the renter must show proof of 501(c)(3) status.

The MAIN requires proof of General Liability Insurance and an additional insured endorsement. Samples to be provided to renter.
Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival (SCSF), a 501(c)3 nonprofit, holds the permanent liquor license for The MAIN. Renter must use SCSF for bar service and sales. No self-service of alcohol will be allowed. A designated area must be set up and staffed during the entire event. The bartender must serve and monitor alcohol sales and consumption during the entire event.
Bar service at the Main is an added amenity. The bar does not serve shots or allow excess drinking and follows all California laws for responsible bar service. SCSF reserves the right to refuse service to anyone persons or to discontinue services if deemed necessary.

For all rental events that require catering, The MAIN must be provided with the caterer’s information, proof of a current business license and a Los Angeles County Health permit.
There is limited parking in the lot behind the theatre. However, there is ample free parking located in the lot at the corner of 6th Street and Main Street, the parking structure at 9th Street and Railroad Avenue and the Newhall Community Center located at Market Street and Pine Street.
